International conference held in Ptuj
23.01.2008.
On 23. and 24. of January, The Development Agency of Municipaly of Čakovec was part of an international conference of Sm@rt Region project financed from Interreg IIIb – CADSES programme. More than 100 participants from across Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Slovenia, Hungary, Croatia and Serbia were present. Croatian partnerts on this particular project were The City of Osijek and The Chamber of Commerce in Varaždin County. The project is 1,5 milion € «worth», around 60% of the funds were provided by the EU, while the rest was gathered from various public and private insitutions. Activities were conducted during a period of 18 months throughout partner countries.
 
 
The objectives of this project are:
 
  • To overcome current existing regional imbalances in the CADSES area and in the European Union as well as imbalances in between rural and urban areas by fostering and supporting the co-operation potential between SME and local administrations and different regional stakeholders.
  • To support regional economies with methods for interregional sector and trans-sector co-operation between economic, scientific, administrative and technologic resources and to strengthen the promotion of innovation, education, training, research and development.
  • To provide a standardised innovative co-operation tool which shall be transferred to and used by other regions to enhance the transnational, inter-sector co-operation potential of regional SME and to support sustainable spatial development at this level.

PHARE 2006. - open call for prposal for strengthening civil society sector in Croatia

Ministry of Finance of Republic of Croatia „Central Finance and Contracting Unit (CFCU)“ opened a call for proposal on January 21st, 2008 under name “Enabling the Civil Society Sector (SCO) for active contribution in the pre-accession process in the Area of Democratization and Hunam rights” taken from a budget line ”Croatia 2006 Phare National Programme”.
 
The overall objective of the Programme is to enable participation and active contribution of CSOs’ in developing, implementing and monitoring public policies and Acquis related policies (at all levels) in Croatia and contributing in raising of awareness of the benefits and challenges of EU accession.
 
The specific objective of this call for proposal is to support CSO projects that contribute to successful accession related reform processes and meeting of political criteria for EU membership in the field of democratization and human rights.
 
The project proposals should fall within one or more of the following priorities:
 
  • Enhancing local development and citizens’ participation;
  • Setting up of cross-sectoral partnerships with the aim of enhancing democratization and human rights processes and practice;
  • Supporting intra-sectoral cooperation, partnership and networking of CSOs with the aim of strengthening civil society influence and participation in development, implementation and monitoring of public policies related to democratization and human rights issues.
 
Eligibility of applicants: who may apply?
 
In order to be eligible for a grant, applicants must:
  • be legal persons
  • be non-for-profit and non-governmental organizations or formal networks of non-for-profit and nongovernmental organizations and
 
Partnerships and eligibility of partners
 
Partners Applicants’ partners participate in designing and implementing the action, and the costs they incur are eligible in the same way as those incurred by the grant Beneficiary. They must therefore satisfy the same eligibility criteria as applicants.
In addition to the categories mentioned above, the following are however also eligible:
  • Local and regional self-governments and local and regional development agencies may be involved as partners and/or co-financers in projects but may not apply as applicants
  • Educational, development and research institutions, upon condition that they will not derive any profit and that the results will be of public benefit.
 
Size of grants:
 
Any grant awarded under this programme must fall between the following minimum and maximum amounts:
 
  • minimum amount: EUR 50.000,00
  • maximum amount: EUR 100.000,00
 
In addition, no grant may exceed 90% of the total eligible costs of the action meaning that the applicant must co-finance at least 10% of the total amount of the project budget.
 
The applicant may submit more than 1 proposal under this call for proposal and planned duration of a project action may not exceed 12 months.

Development Agency-Municipality of Čakovec "ČakRa Ltd." visited Development Agency - Municipality of Nagykanizsa in Hungary.
